Recognize Them by Their Fruits (Matthew 7:15-20) Commentary

The greatest false prophet of all was Satan, who convinced Adam and Eve that disobeying God would not harm them. Christ represents all that is good and holy, therefore those who are evil will try to wear Christianity as a mask. They will come to you as harmless and innocent, but their true intentions ravage your soul. How will we know who these people are? They will contradict Christ. Those who profess any other way but Christ are false.  Mohammad, the founder of Islam, taught that Christ never died, that He never suffered on the cross, and that He never rose from the dead. These were lies! And, they produced evil hearts in men, some who persecute and kill Christians to this day. However, worse than that, his teachings have condemned the souls of those who accept them! In today’s world there are many lies about Jesus, and these too bear bad fruit– hatred toward those who hold true to God’s Word.   False prophets tell people what they want to hear, not what Christ wants them to know.  That which produces bad fruit will face the judgment of God.  Here are some other lies false prophets tell:

Jesus is not the Son of God.
Jesus never died.
Jesus never rose from the dead.
There is no sin, heaven, or hell.
Jesus never existed in the flesh.
Jesus never existed.
Encouraging/permitting behavior explicitly defined as sin in the Bible (Homosexuality and other sexual sin, polygamy, lying, blasphemy)
Discrimination of people by gender, race, nationality, age
Seeking you to surrender all of your belongings for their use
Denying the Trinity
Denying the Holy Spirit
Psychic readings, talking to the dead
Integrating Christ into false religions of Buddhism, Hinduism, Wicca, Islam, or others
Praying to Saints or Mary
Specific predictions of the rapture or coming of Jesus
Teaching you can earn your way to heaven through good deeds
Denying God inspired the Bible.
Committing or endorsing sin in the name of Jesus.
Twisting scripture to suit an evil purpose.

Birth of Isaac (Genesis 21) Commentary

The Lord visited Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did to Sarah as he had promised. God’s Word is infallible. His will is done. at the time of which God had spoken to him. At God’s appointed time. Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him, whom Sarah bore him, Isaac. Meaning “laughter”; both a reference to Sarah’s laughter of doubt and the laughter of joy over their son  And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac Obediently, as a symbol of the convenant  Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him. Abraham waited so long to be a father And Sarah said, “God has made laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh over me.” Sarah laughs out of joy now, in place of the doubting laughter she expressed when she heard she would concieve.   And she said, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Who would have thought it was possible? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age. But with God all things are possible.
And the child grew and was weaned. And Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned. But Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, laughing.  Mocking Isaac, scoffing at him out of jealousy. The scoffing continues to this day– as Muhammad, the claimed descendant of Ishmael, created the false faith of Islam, to scoff and mock the true salvation of God, that is in Christ, the descendant of Isaac.  So she said to Abraham, “Cast out this slave woman with her son, for the son of this slave woman shall not be heir with my son Isaac.” He would not share the inheritance, not because of Sarah’s casting him out, but because it was God’s divine plan. And the thing was very displeasing to Abraham on account of his son. Abraham loved Ishmael as his son. In his dialogue with God, he asks for blessings upon Ishmael.  But God said to Abraham, Be not displeased because of the boy and because of your slave woman. God assures Abraham Whatever Sarah says to you, do as she tells you, for through Isaac shall your offspring be named.  Isaac was the promised son, out of whose bloodline the Messiah would be born. The Lord had said that Ishmael would live in hostility of his brethren. Therefore, his separation was necessary.   And I will make a nation of the son of the slave woman also, because he is your offspring. God promised to bless Abraham’s descendants. So Abraham rose early in the morning and took bread and a skin of water and gave it to Hagar, The provisions Abraham provided would not be enough to sustain them for an extended period, but enough until they got to their destination, which God would provide; along with the child,  and sent her away  Ishmael was 16 or 17 at this time, so he was not carried by Hagar as the wording may appear to indicate, but he was sent away with her.   And she departed and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba. It seems they got lost;

When the water in the skin was gone, she put the child under one of the bushes. In the shade, out of the heat, and also that she would not have to see him suffer. We know they were at a desperate point, because she said “Let me not look on the death of the child.” God heard the cries of Ishmael, and again provided for him and Hagar, as he had promised Abraham.  God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water.   And God was with the boy, and he grew up. We do not know who Ishmael worshipped as God. God provided for him, as promised, but  Psalm 83 lists his descendants, the Ishamelites, among those who worship idols. He lived in the wilderness and became an expert with the bow. He lived in the wilderness of Paran, . The Lord told Hagar that Ishamel would be a wild man. and his mother took a wife for him from the land of Egypt and likewise introduce him to false gods. Though God had saved her, it is not professed that she converted or worshiped only Him.

False Teachers (2Peter 2) Commentary

False teachers and prophets manipulate and charm, just like Satan. They mislead and deceive, even deny Jesus was the Son of God. Such a man was Muhammad, who claimed the Word of God was distorted, and denied Jesus was the Son of God. Millions are mislead by this falsification. Today, false teachers and prophets deny there is eternal punishment, deny that there are sins, and deny a need for a savior. Many practice hate under the guise of Christianity- this is nothing new. Emperor Nero blamed the devastating fires of Rome on Christians.  God will hold such people in judgment, but He will rescue the godly from this destruction. They are liars, charmers, sinners, and hate the Way of truth, promising “freedom”  but only giving slavery to sin. Self-proclaimed modern “civil rights activists” promote sexual sin in homosexuality, and even create their own churches which ignore the Word of God! This is no new venture. Peter’s words are evidence that churches were being corrupted 2000 years ago. The enemies of Jesus continue to come and go, but true freedom is in Christ, where we are free from sin!  They lead people back to the sinful ways of the world, away from Jesus, and these people would have been better had they not know the truth. But in knowing the truth and turning from it, they have clearly renounced grace. But God is merciful! We must pray for all the false teachers and prophets, and those who have followed them, that they find Jesus.
